The Hue That Seared My Eyes

The Hue That Seared My Eyes
by: Scott Senior

Slowly I descend,
Searching your sweet face,
Knowing that deep
Within this place,
   Lied my fabled prize.

It was then,
While peeling through your guise,
That I saw that hue,
That deadly hue,
The hue that seared my eyes.

Two icy pits..
They froze me there,
While you seemingly turned this around.
Your awful crime,
Which destroyed me,
Was all that you burned down.

I was at your door,
It was our debut.
I saw right then,
Inside of you,
   Lay potential hope.
I stuck it out,
On this rocky slope,
Yet just stood there,
While you lowered me,
And slashed at our frayed rope.

And there you were
At the end of me
At the cliff overlooking eternity.
You pushed me off,
And left me to,
Endure your torment forever more.

You lied to me,
You sent me here,
And passed me all your guilt.
And now I must
Suffer your pain,
Left to slowly shrink and wilt.

Forever doomed to bear this pain,
Mourning here in this torrential rain,
All alone on this arcane lane.
Someone please, come to me,
or count me among her slain.

Morning golds don't light this space.
Constant squalls will whip my face.
Why me? Why me? I hate this taste.
Father Time, take me there,
   to my final resting place.
